To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Scouting helps build strong character, citizenship, and physical fitness—all through hands-on learning and outdoor adventures.
Cub Scouting means doing. Scouts stay active through a variety of fun, engaging activities that build life skills while they play and explore.
Some examples:
Go hiking and camping
Race Pinewood Derby cars
Complete STEM and outdoor challenges
Help with community service projects
Earn badges, pins, and awards
By doing these things, scouts learn responsibility, teamwork, and confidence.
Yes—and it’s an important one.
Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program. You’ll be invited to attend meetings, events, and outings with your scout, especially in the early years. As your scout grows older, your role becomes more supportive and less hands-on.
You are not expected to lead right away
You choose your level of involvement
Many parents find joy and connection through participation
You may be surprised how much you enjoy it! Many leaders started by “just helping” and caught the Scouting spirit along the way.
Cub Scouting is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5–10). The program includes:
Kindergarten - Lion Cubs
1st Grade - Tiger Cubs
2nd Grade - Wolf Cubs
3rd Grade - Bear Cubs
4th Grade - Webelos
5th Grade - Arrow of Light
Scouts work on rank-specific adventures with their dens (scouts of the same grade). They also participate in pack-wide activities, which include scouts of all ages.
Activities support the goals of citizenship, character, and fitness
Learning happens through doing, not just listening
Events are both indoor and outdoor
Whether it’s building something, hiking a trail, or performing a skit, every activity helps your scout grow.
To participate in Cub Scouts, your scout will need:
A Cub Scout uniform shirt (blue or khaki, depending on age)
A handbook for their current rank
A neckerchief and slide (which change each year)
Optional items include hats, belts, and pants—but the main shirt and some accessories may be used for several years.
Webelos scouts (4th–5th grade) may choose to switch to the khaki-and-olive uniform worn in Scouts BSA.
Our program runs alongside the school year, with additional optional activities during the summer.
