Cub Scout Uniforms: What They Are & Why They Matter
The Cub Scout uniform is a key part of Scouting. It includes the official shirt, neckerchief, and optional cap, belt and pants, with variations by rank (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light). The uniform helps create a sense of belonging, encourages equality, and shows a Scout’s achievements through patches and awards.
Wearing the uniform:
Promotes pride and discipline
Builds unity among Scouts
Represents the values of Scouting (like responsibility and respect)
It reminds Scouts that they are part of something bigger — a nationwide program that builds character and leadership.

The Class A uniform is worn for formal and ceremonial Scouting events. While it varies slightly by rank, it typically includes:
Uniform Shirt by Grade:
Grades 1–3: Blue Cub Scout Uniform Shirt
Grade 4: Blue Cub Scout or Tan Scouts BSA Uniform Shirt
Grade 5: Tan Scouts BSA Uniform Shirt

The Class B uniform is our Pack 122 or Cub Scout t-shirt and is used for informal and active events.

Informal or casual Pack events
Pack t-shirts are available for purchase shortly after the school year begins and recruitment is complete. T-shirts from Cub'n'Pal make great class b uniforms.

Pack 122 follows a “waist-up” uniform guideline to keep Cub Scouting affordable and accessible.
Official uniform caps are optional
Pants/shorts do not need to be official BSA items
Jeans or khaki-style shorts/pants with belt loops are perfectly acceptable
Official uniform pants, shorts, and socks are available at the Scout Shop but are not required in our Pack

Visual Highlight: Showcases the official Lion T‑shirt, which is the only required part of the Lion uniform.
Lion Uniform Guidelines:
Required: The official Lion T‑shirt serves as their activity uniform.
Optional: Items such as the Lion cap, neckerchief & slide, and uniform bottoms (shorts, pants) are not required by Pack 122—families choose what works best.
Tigers, Wolves, Bears (1st-3rd Grade)
Tigers, Wolves, Bears (1st-3rd Grade)
Blue Uniform Shirt (with patches). The uniform is reused each year so you only need to buy one if you oversize it enough.
Blue Cut-To-Fit Web Belt (belt is needed for them to wear and show off their awards)
Neckerchief and Slide corresponding to the rank they're in (tiger for 1st grade, wolf for 2nd grade, bear for 3rd grade)
Optional: The rank uniform cap and uniform bottoms (shorts, pants) are not required by Pack 122—families choose what works best.
The staff at the scout shop will help you with patches. You just need to know we are Pack 122.
Additionally each year you will also need to buy a new neckerchief and slide

Webelos Scouts may choose to wear either the blue uniform or the tan/olive uniform similar to the one Scouts BSA wear.

Webelos wearing the tan/olive uniform need:

Tan Scouts BSA Uniform Shirt (with patches) They will move to a tan shirt once they reach Arrow of Light rank.
Blue Shoulder Loops for the shoulder straps on the tan shirt. For the tan/olive uniform, Webelos wear the blue shoulder loops.
Scouts BSA Olive Green Web Belt or Blue Web Belt
Webelos Neckerchief (plaid) and Slide
Adventure Rank Colors Shoulder Pin for their award pins.

With either uniform, all Webelos Scouts wear the Webelos plaid neckerchief, Webelos neckerchief slide, and optional Webelos cap.
Tip: If your child's blue uniform does not fit, purchase a tan shirt. Make sure to oversize the shirt so when they crossover to a Scouts BSA troop they can continue using the tan shirt in their new troop.

Tan Scouts BSA Uniform Shirt (with patches). The scout will continue to wear this shirt into BSA Scouts after finishing the Cub Scout program.
Blue Shoulder Loops for the shoulder straps on the Tan Uniform Shirt.
Olive Green Scouts BSA Web Belt
Optional Neckerchief and slide. Arrow of Light Scouts may wear any official Scouting America neckerchief and Scouts BSA slide
Adventure Rank Colors Shoulder Pin for their award pins.

Any badge or patch that your child earns will be awarded during the Monthly Pack Meetings. You will need to sew them on, but they are provided.

Class A uniforms may be purchased in-person at the Northwest Texas Council Scout Shop. We recommend going to the scout shop in Wichita Falls instead of purchasing online because the shop staff are able to answer any questions you have and help you get the correct items. The scout shop offers sewing services and some pre-sewn shirts.
All you need to know is:
Your child's Grade
You are in pack 122 (need number patch)
